Michael has been awarded a second fellowship to MacDowell for an April-June 2025 residency, where he will work on an orchestral piece. His first MacDowell residency resulted in his String Quartet No. 2, "Romanian," in 2017.
Spring/summer 2025 brings a set of chamber works to the Pacific Northwest: in June, Songs of Spring opens the first concert of the Chintimini Chamber Music Festival in Corvallis, OR. A month later, Chamber Music Northwest features Walimai on its New@Night series. Finally, Two Fantasies will appear in Eugene, OR (details to follow).
Lullaby-Nocturne, for solo piano, is released as part of the Curtis Institute of Music's "100 for 100" project. Watch pianist Claire Huangci's premiere performance here. The project also features the Two Fantasies for string trio, commissioned for Curtis on Tour and premiered in 2023 by violinist Maria Ioudenitch, violist Haesue Lee, and cellist Jean Kim in concerts in Athens, Berlin, and Madrid.
