Hermit the Crab (the unlikely hero of The Seahorse and the Crab) scuttles into next season with performances by the Santa Rosa Symphony (Oct. 29, 2023) and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra (May 7 & 21, 2024). Originally comissioned by the Philadelphia Orchestra Association, the work was most recently performed four times on the POA's "Sound All Around" concert series in May 2023.

Two Fantasies receives its world premiere performances in Athens (Sept. 30), Berlin (Oct. 5), and Madrid (Oct. 8-9). Commissioned by the Curtis Institute of Music for its touring program, Curtis on Tour, the work will be performed by an all-alumni ensemble: violinist Maria Ioudenitch, violist Haesue Lee, and cellist Jean Kim.

Michael heads to Oregon and California during the 2023-24 season for fall and spring residencies with the Eugene Symphony and the Santa Rosa Symphony, who have jointly commissioned a large orchestral work for premiere in early 2024. Read more about the First Symphony Project here.
